Special Instructions For MAC UsersODDS Online requires Java to run. Java uses a plug-in to work with Safari or any other web browser. If you already have the Java plug-in installed and active, then the rest of this article is unnecessary. Just log-in and load the program. If, however, you haven't activated the plug-in, follow the instructions below. There are lots of images, so be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the article to get the entire set of instructions. This first screen is what you should see when you load ODDS Online for the first time in a Mac where the plug-in hasn't been activated.
Click on the arrow in the middle of the white space to the right of "Inactive Plug-in". When you do that, you should see the following image.
Click on the "Enable" button, and restart your browser. Depending on whether you have Lion or Snow Leopard, you may not have to restart your browser at this stage, but go ahead and restart just to be sure. Next, you need to set up the Java Preferences. Go to Spotlight and type in the word Java. That should bring up a list. Java Preferences should be at or near the top of that list. It should look like the image below.
Click on Java Preferences and you should see a menu similar to the image below.
Make sure the "Enable applet plug-in and Web Start Application" is checked, and that both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions are checked. Once that's done, you MUST restart the browser, no matter what operating system you're using. That should do it. When you go to log-in to ODDS Online the next time, you should see something like the image below, which is our beta version running in Safari on a MacBook Pro loaded with Lion.
